A couple friends and I were craving an after dinner snack, as we found ourselves nearby the often-raved about "Cheesecake Etc". Located at the South Granville section of town, it’s referred to by many as a cheesecake paradise that could use a bit better lighting (more on that later). Although I don’t come here as often as I would like, I always anticipate indulging in not just the scrumptious selections that the dinery has to offer, but also the soulful jazz music that accompanies the food.
“This is the one we’re famous for”! That’s the line used to describe the original cheesecake with strawberries, a dish that seemingly appears at the table every time I come here (if that doesn’t grab your attention, I don’t know what will). On top of their signature buttery cheesecake is a thin layer of mildly sweet strawberry jam, finished off by some whip cream on the side. The “melt-in-your-mouth” textures of all these components go so so well with one another, but what I love the most is that nothing feels overpowering.
My friends got the green tea flavored and pear and chocolate sauce cheesecakes respectively, all of which were delicious. The pear one was definitely my least favorite of the three since I felt the flavors didn’t mesh with one another as harmoniously as the other two selections.
If you’re looking for a cozy hangout spot to chat with friends while being able to eat cheesecake at the same time, then look no further. They do offer other selections for those who are lactose-intolerant or aren’t feeling cheesecake for the night and are just accompanying their friends. If you’re looking to take gorgeous shots of these wonderful creations for a food blog (*cough*) that may prove to be difficult with the dark lighting and the presence of only a miniature candle. Other than that, I have no complaints what-so-ever.
